Over a Decade of Local Government Experience with the City of Wilson

KEY PLATFORM ISSUES

1. Open Communication, Stronger Community

A city government works best when it listens to and communicates with  the people it serves. Too often, citizens feel left out of the process or uninformed about important decisions that affect their daily lives. As your council representative, I PROMISE I will work to change that.

I am committed to building trust through open communication—making sure residents receive timely, clear updates on city projects, creating more opportunities for two-way dialogue, and ensuring decisions are transparent and accessible. Whether through neighborhood meetings, digital tools, or open office hours, I will work to keep our community connected to OUR government. For example, I plan to host quarterly “Coffee with Your Council Member” sessions so neighbors can ask questions, share ideas, and raise concerns in an informal setting.

By fostering honest communication, we can create stronger partnerships, better solutions, and a city government that truly reflects the wants and needs of its citizens.

2. Innovative Housing Solutions for All

Affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing our community. Seniors, veterans, public servants, and first-time homebuyers are finding it harder every year to secure housing they can afford. If we want to keep our city livable and welcoming, we need creative solutions.

As your council representative, I will work to:
  •   Explore zoning and policy changes that allow for tiny homes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs), giving families flexible, affordable options.
  •   Partner with developers, nonprofits, and community lenders to encourage a mix of housing types that meet the needs of residents at every stage of life.
  •   Support programs that help seniors age in place, and make it easier for first-time buyers, veterans, and public servants to find affordable homes.
  •   Find and leverage state and federal resources to expand our city’s housing toolbox.

By embracing both traditional and innovative housing solutions, we can ensure that all residents have the opportunity to put down roots and thrive in Wilson.

3. Safe Neighborhoods

Every resident deserves to feel safe in their own home, on their street, and in our shared public spaces. Creating safer neighborhoods isn’t just about policing—it’s about building strong connections between neighbors, city services, and community organizations.

As your council representative, I will work to:

  •  Continue strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and neighborhoods through regular communication and community policing.
  •   Invest in safer infrastructure such as better street lighting, sidewalks, and traffic calming measures.
  •   Support youth programs and community organizations that address the root causes of crime and build positive opportunities for our next generation.

By taking a balanced approach—prevention, partnership, and smart investment—we can all work together to create neighborhoods where families feel secure, kids can play outside, and businesses can thrive.
